My Life in 10 Years

When I am 26 years old i plan on graduating from dental after going through 4 years of college and four years of dental school.  If I decide to be a general dentist, then i will be two years into my career at the age of 28.  General Dentistry is an accumulation of all the dental specialties, for example a general dentist will practice orthodontics, root canals, oral surgery, etc.  However I am interested in specializing, which means a specialty in orthodontics would be another 2-3 years of school, and if I wished to specialize in oral surgery it would mean another 4-5 years.  In order to specialize in one of these fields you must be in the top 10% of your class; if a student wishes to specialize, he/she needs to work diligently through dental school.  It is hard to say exactly what i will be doing in 10 years, yet it will for certain be something in the dental field.  My plan is to stay in Grosse Pointe so that one day I will be able to take over my dad's practice.  However,  at this time nothing is set in stone.
